Basic Course

The Basic course will introduce you to a new world of exploration and adventure, as you learn what you and your vehicle are capable of achieving.

The course consists of a three-hour theory session on a Thursday night at Mont Albert, followed by a full day of practical instruction in a forest around Narbethong in small groups.

The course will demonstrate the best and safest way to use your vehicle, with minimal impact to the environment. Practice in stall stop key starts for manual vehicles and the many ways of descending a steep hill in automatics. We will cover all the new technology in the modern vehicle so that you will understand what all the buttons and acronyms are for. You will cover debogging, steep up and down hills, river crossings, and the best ways to assess obstacles.

There will be demonstrations of recovery equipment and its uses, spares which should be carried, accessories that are available and different driving techniques for different terrains.
